Ira Wayne McConnell,CPA

In his role as Managing Partner, Wayne is responsible for guiding the strategic direction of the firm and has overall responsibility for management of administrative functions, including human resources, marketing and business development, accounting, and information technology.

Wayne also serves as Partner-In-Charge of McConnell & Jones’ assurance practice, and has oversight responsibility of the audit division’s quality control system; making sure that it adheres to the peer review and inspection requirements of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Public Company Accounting and Oversight Board (PCAOB).  He also conducts engagement partner and concurring partner technical reviews of audit reports and the related financial statements, ensuring that the engagements have been performed in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards and the financial statements are being presented  in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. 

Mr. McConnell’s background includes a detailed knowledge of federal reporting regulations and requirements including those issued by the Securities Exchange Commission, Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, Office of Management and Budget, and the Government Accountability Office. His clients include publicly-traded and privately-held entities in a variety of industries and he is familiar with 10-K, 11-K and 10-Q filing requirements.

In addition to his responsibilities as managing partner of MJLM and MJ, Wayne contributes his time to the public services sector.  At the American Heart Association, he is a Board Executive and Nominating Committee Member of the Houston Division. He is also a member of the Nominating and Volunteer Leadership Committees at the Southwest Affiliate. On the national level, he serves on the Business Management Committee.  Wayne also serves on the Board of Directors of Camac Energy Inc. In addition, he serves as the Board of Directors, Executive Committee Chair of the Audit and Finance Committee for the Greater Houston Partnership, the Board of Governors of the Houston City Club, and Board of Directors of the Grambling State University Foundation.  Additionally, he serves on the Board of Directors for the United Way of Greater Houston where he is also on the Audit and Executive Committee.
